Gabi gets along well, she lives in Alt Ruppin, has her own apartment, buys for herself and can cook. Gabi is a seamstress, she likes to go strolling and to the open-air swimming pool. Gabi leads a full life, just like her friend Sabine, they want for nothing - only they can't read and write. Once a year, the two friends go to a musical. Their journey takes them to another cosmos, to the world of colorful letters and foreign languages, to Berlin. Gabi and Sabine embark on an adventurous journey, without a route planner or city map.
